What are Smart Hands services in the Netherlands?
Smart Hands services are skilled onsite technicians who perform physical IT work in a data center or server room for a team that isn’t there. Many international companies host European infrastructure in the Netherlands and rely on Smart Hands when hardware needs installing, replacing, cabling or inspecting.

The Dutch data center landscape
The Amsterdam metropolitan area is one of Europe’s main data center hubs and home to AMS-IX, one of the world’s largest internet exchanges. Schiphol Airport and the Port of Rotterdam also make the Netherlands a common entry point for equipment shipped into Europe.

- You register ITDW technicians with the facility or approve visits through the colocation portal.
- Technicians follow each facility’s identification, escort, photo and delivery rules.
- Work is done within your agreed maintenance window and documented for your records.
Shipping hardware into the Netherlands
Equipment arriving from outside the EU clears EU customs on entry, and the importer needs an EU EORI number; import VAT applies. Because Schiphol and Rotterdam are major EU entry points, equipment can often be received, staged and installed in the Netherlands, or moved on to other EU countries.
ITDW Group can source hardware through Global Hardware Procurement, ship it with Global IT Logistics and install it on site in the Netherlands.
